An evening cycle
Written by: skip; Time: 10:11 pm; Filed under: Troop Nights;1 CommentStarting at the scout hut, we went off on an evening bike ride. We split into two groups, with one group taking it easy to Braishfield and back, and the other group going on a longer route north of Braishfield including a very long drawn out hill.
Huge congratulations to everyone for going further than they expected, particularly those who thought they wouldn’t make the hill but did
Next week, there’s no meeting at the hut as we’re going to street sports at Mountbatten school as part of diggers day (if you’ve signed up). Otherwise, see you in a fortnight.

Written by: skip; Time: 11:38 pm; Filed under: Troop Nights; No CommentsThis weeks Scout meeting will be held at the Scout HQ as normal but we are going to be going out on a cycle ride around the hampshire country side. Please try to get to the Scout hut slightly earlier at 6.50pm so that we can check to ensure the bikes are ok. Helments must be worn and lights should be on the bike just encase.
Since the weather looks to be really sunny, please put some sun cream on for tomorrow as well as bring a bottle of water if you can carry it.
See you all Monday

Patrol Challenges
Written by: skip; Time: 10:59 pm; Filed under: Troop Nights; No CommentsSorry for the delay in posting a summary of last weeks troop meeting its been a busy week.
This week it was a quiet week due to a number of Scouts out canoeing at Testwood Lake in Eastleigh and some being on a school trip. The evening started as normal with Flag break, due to the limited numbers we decided not to hold inspection this week. The scouts were asked what game they would like to play first this week, after a number of games were decided against we settled on play capture the flag on the field.
The troop was divided into two teams yellow and red. Each team member was given a “life” that they had to have in tucked into there belt. Once the life was caught by a member of the opposition (or fell out than that person was out for that round). Each team was given a base where there was a flag within it. The first round the teams had to stay on the field and it ended in a draw. The second two rounds the teams were allowed to go into the woods around the fields to hopefully capture the flag.
After capture the flag it was time for the main activity of the evening which was a Patrol Challenge, unfortunately with so few members of the same patrols we kept the same teams as capture the flag. The challenge was based around scouting activities. Firstly they had to create a triangle from poles to carry one of there team to the first base and answer a number of questions. From this base they had to retrieve equipment if they managed to answer the questions correct and then it was onto base 2 again carrying a member of there team.
At base two they had to answer some map and compass before tying on a pan of water (this was “nuclear waste” and so could not be split when carrying them to base 3. At base three they had to get the waste into a specific allocated area without touching the pan or the string holding it up. Only one team managed to burn through the strings in time before it was the end of the evening.

Baddesley Common in the Sunshine
Written by: skip; Time: 10:00 pm; Filed under: Troop Nights; No Comments
This weeks Scout meeting was slightly different from normal weeks, instead of meeting at the Scout hut we all meet up at Emer Close on the edge of Baddesley Common for a walk. The Scouts arrived at 7pm wearing neckers only, it was a lovely Summers evening with the sun shining and it nice and warm.We set off at 7.10pm crossing the road to head pass the Glifford offices down a small path and head out over the fields before reaching the common. We crossed the common arriving at Green Lane in double quick time, turning right following the road for alittle bit before rejoining the footpath just after going under the railway line. After crossing the railway line and a ford we end up back at Emer Farm at 8pm. With another hour to go we decided to head for Emer Blog. Crossing the farm land heading towards Emer Blog, it was time to break out the refreshments of small bags of Haribo!
As we headed pass Emer Blog, which was looking very dry the sun was getting lower and lower in the sky. As we head up pass Emer Blog towards the farm on the outskirts of the Village near St Johns Church. After reaching the church everyone was getting abit tidied, but there was not much further to go, we were almost on the home straight. Arriving back at Emer Close at 8.55pm. Well done to all the Scouts that came along it was a lovely evening walk and I hope you all enjoyed it. Have a look at the route we took here:
Final distance was 4.37 Miles.
See you all next week

The Pulborough trophy has finished for another year and 15th North Baddesley Scouts came in a fantastic 12th place. In the Ian Grainger Trophy they came a brilliant 5th.
I hope all the Scouts enjoyed the camp and learnt alot. Thanks goes out to the organising team of the camp and the catering team for keeping the leaders feed.
Thanks also to my Scout Leadership Team without them over this last week I think I might have gone mad with the organisation. They put in alot of hours getting the camp prepared. Thanks to the parents and leaders for helping put equipment away after the camp.
Next year i think we should be looking for a top 10 position
.Finally just a few pictures I didn’t upload over the weekend.
